LIEabilities
Summary
Welcome to the CONversation created by misinformation, lies and deception which have become commonplace globally. LIE-Abilities explores the insidious themes of Political Power, Corporate Exploitation, Financial Schemes, and Conspiracy to Defraud. Each “chapter” begins with a long standing lie anchored in history shining a glaring light on individuals and institutions that fuel this flagrant culture of dishonesty.
Series Intro
LIE-abilities is an episodic documentary geo-political series that formulates a discussion about how lies shift culture in its various forms. The story is crafted with highly insightful interviews from local and national leaders who explore each theme/subject. In this series, we investigate the effects lies have as they populate our media and information streams, with a pervasive influence on our politics, popular culture and personal lives. From gossipy “little white lies” to litigious defamation and slander, lies influence and effect our culture and individual perspectives of ourselves and each other.
Episode 1 BLM
Set in Seattle, Washington, this chapter delves into the media's rebranding of the BLM protests as "BLM Riots," stirring controversy and disillusionment about the movement. Through the lens of a local resident, we navigate the protest zones, juxtaposing firsthand accounts with archival footage.
Highlighting the work of Historian Ibram Kendi, we draw parallels between historical and contemporary racism, exposing the enduring struggle against systemic oppression.
Concluding with a poignant portrayal of a peaceful protest in South Seattle, overlooked by national media, our documentary emphasizes the importance of reclaiming the narrative and amplifying silenced voices.
