Kai Films joined Starry Eyed Christmas to help turn an ambitious independent production into a workable plan—creatively, financially, and operationally.
Project overview
Derek Johnson came aboard as a producer and Director of Photography after being invited to the project by two fellow producers. The role combined production leadership with responsibility for the film’s visual approach.
Production approach
Behind the camera, Kai Films helped build the production infrastructure the project required. That work included contracts, equity agreements, the finance plan, budgeting, and crew hiring. At the same time, Derek developed the cinematography so the practical plan and the creative plan could support one another.
Outcome
The project gained a clearer production framework, an organized path for financing and staffing, and a visual strategy shaped around the realities of the schedule and budget.
