90’s Throw Back Jersey Commercial 2023

Early in 2023, my good friend Lisa B. Hammond and I were talking about a project she had been manifesting with my other friend Madeline Down. Madeline is a filmmaker extraordinaire who has a gig with the Seahawks and Lisa is a Creative Director with many years as a production designer and art department head under her belt. I asked if any help was needed and soon after Maddie contacted me and asked me to be the gaffer. I of course said yes and soo grateful that I did. This assignment was truly a highlight of my career.

The shoot was to announce a 90’s throwback uniform reissue to the Seahawks fans in the form of a 90’s period studio faux sitcom skit with a full 4 room build. The idea was to take a player back into the 90’s and then out onto the field in a oner. Sort of like running through the tunnel they do in the stadium but instead, they were in the 90’s sitcom. There was a lot to coordinate and a lot of technical problems to solve along the way but we succeeded. Maddie knows me to wear many hats during production and so I was hired as a gaffer, yet found myself doing some producer work to. Because the project was so layered, I called upon by friend Derek Klein at Olympic Studios Seattle to assist as a key lighting technician (also a gaffer). Together we had 45 fixtures and with Mike Astles help, many many modifiers to put together this giant build. Check out my lighting plan in the slideshow!

This was one for the books. I can hardly wait to work with these folks again!
